I'm not a bard of olden times, I just really can't stop these rhymes.

I never thought I'd be talking to someone from "Star Trek". I'm guessing you're younger- you sound like it. Not Leonard Nimoy for sure.

No, it's fine, I don't mind. It's the rhyming that's getting to me. [Scully inhales quickly and nods.] Yeah, I do. No matter how I'm trying to communicate, I'm rhyming or making poetry.

Sure. I am-- was-- is-- well, when I return from here I'll still be an FBI agent. Or so I hope. I was shot before I arrived here, so I hope I live through that to be able to continue my job.

[Spock tilts his head in curiosity...] I see... that is most unfortunate news. I hope that you survive this event...[Spock is aware of individuals here in Luceti where they do not survive... He hopes that Dana is not one of these.]

FBI? You refer to an old earth agency... the Federal Bureau of Investigations? What was your area of specialty?

I hope so too. I don't think I would want to go back if I was just going to kick the bucket. [There's a wry smile at that.]

Yeah, that's what I mean. I guess it's not around in your time, huh? Anyway, I'm a medical doctor and a scientist. I was assigned to a unit called the 'X-files,' a section that investigates unsolved cases that involve unexplainable phenomena. My partner is the one who worked in it before, but they put me there in order to debunk his work and shut it down.

[And a kind of real smile.]

They haven't succeeded yet. Not to keep it permanently shut down, at least.
